Style

Damien Valero assembles the body through fragments produced with mixed-media techniques: video, volume, numbered photographs, or soundscapes.[2] He organizes a course where the viewer can turn around installations, scenes that evoke sacred rituals reconfigured: variations around the navel, hands and feet molded around an imaginary banquet, an altar to Saint Agatha. The body also becomes an architectural element. The artist immerses the viewer in a reflection on the envelope that surrounds us, the city walls, the skin of things, the bark of beings. By organizing absences, voids in the representations, he pushes the viewer to reinvent the body of which there remains only fragments, blasts, texts, postures, organic signs.

Training

Damien Valero passed the entry competition at Arts déco at age 23. Once admitted, he gravitated towards the printed image. Peter Keller encouraged him to pass the competition for l'Atelier national de recherche typographique. There he met Jean Widmer.
